The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), found in Chapter 5 ILCS 140/1-11, provides that each public body shall make available to any person for inspection or copying all public records. Public records include but are not limited to any record, report, letter, memoranda, e-mail, recording, or photograph under the control of a public body.
In accordance with FOIA, all persons are entitled to full and complete information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts and policies of those public officials and public employees who represent them. CDB is committed to an open and honest government and has established a culture of the presumption of disclosure when individuals or groups request public records under the Act.
