Freedom of Information Act

Freedom of Information Act, found in Chapter 5 ILCS 140/1-11, provides that each public body shall make available to any person for inspection or copying all public records. Public records include but are not limited to any record, report, letter, memoranda, e-mail, recording or photograph under the control of a public body.

In accordance with the Act, all persons are entitled to full and complete information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts and policies of those who represent them as public officials and public employees. CDB is committed to an open and honest government by establishing a culture for the presumption of disclosure when individuals and/or groups request public records under the Act.
